Maassen Pellet Press MP150

The ideal solution for IR spectroscopy

Laboratory presses, MP150 series the ideal solution for IR spectroscopy. The MP150 has an 80 mm pressure gauge with a scale of 0.5 t. steps. It is suitable for many applications and is most commonly used in IR spectroscopy, which typically uses 13 mm diameter pressing tools.

The MP150D with the digital display shows pressure differences in 0.01 t increments. This increases reproducibility because the pressure can be controlled more precisely. This is particularly useful for very small pressing tools that can quickly become overloaded.

We recommend a minimum load of 1 t so that the hydraulic valves are completely closed. The press can then maintain pressure for several hours. The automatic pressure limitation is between 15-16 t. The manual pressure release valve allows for gentle pressure reduction to minimize the risk of pellet cracking.

If you use pressing tools larger than 18 mm, please check in advance whether the surface pressure is sufficient to create a stable pellet. If in doubt, we recommend the MP250 series. Processor-controlled pressure limitation is possible (MP-S1): the desired maximum pressure is then set using the buttons on the display. Further pumping then no longer builds up higher pressure. This improves reproducibility enormously and avoids careless errors. The value is saved even after the press is switched off.

Maassen Laborpresse Serie MP250

The MP250 has a pressure gauge with 100 mm dia. and a scale of 0.5 tons. It uses four longer columns compared to the MP150 for larger die sets and improved stability. The enhanced pressure range extends the press use for the common 32 and 40 mm die sets, needed for XRF analysis. The MP250D uses the same digital display as the MP150D and shows pressure differences in 10 kg steps (0.01 tons). So you can precisely check the load on your die set. This makes sense for very small die sets which usually don't stand high loads. Therefore, the MP250D is a press for all applications in your lab. We recommend a minimum pressure of about 1 ton to allow the hydraulic lines to close. Then, the press can maintain the load for hours. The maximum load is limited to 25 – 27 tons. The manual release valve allows a smooth pressure decrease to avoid cracks in your pellets.
